This is a fully modified guitar hero controller that has the basic modifications that renews an old controller with a fantastic modern feel.
Custom modded guitar hero controllers take existing old controllers and breathe new life into them, literally! We replace all of the insides and add new buttons, strummer and strap pegs to provide an air of personalisation as well as a new feel to the guitar.
This is a fully modified guitar hero controller that has the following modifications:
- Mechanical frets (Red linear Kailh switches)
- Upgraded Strum Switches (Kailh Box Pinks, modified with a 90g spring)
- Custom, purpose made PCB’s
- Arduino micro controller
- USB Wired for super low latency connection
- 3D Printed fret buttons
- 3D Printed strum bar
- Added star power arcade button (Kramer model only)

The body of the guitar will have some marks or wear on it, I try my best to make the guitar look as clean as possible. These guitars are over 10-15 years old so some have minor aesthetic damage that cannot be fixed.

I had never had a custom Guitar before, so I went looking for one after going through yet another off brand guitar on Amazon since I absolutely love Guitar/Clone Hero.
I wanted to finally have a long lasting guitar that I knew would be more reliable and last longer than two weeks. I found two options, SausageMods and another that would cost me an arm and a leg for a custom guitar, so I went with the affordable option.
Took some months to get it, but it was definitely worth the wait. Well packaged and not any damage thanks to the recommendations they gave to me for delivery.
When I finally got to play with it, it took some adjustment, but the frets are better than ANY guitar I used in the past and allows me to tap much faster due to how little force it takes to press them. The smoothness allows me to make hand transitions much better without hurting my hand from stiff buttons, which is a huge problem with normal guitars, especially with stiff buttons.
The Strum Bar is loose and responsive, but was a bit bigger than normal Les Paul guitars, but adjusting my hand movements easily fixed that.
The neck is also hardwired to the guitar itself, so no more annoying unresponsive frets or dropped inputs even with extended playing.
SausageMods is an amazing choice for anyone who either wants to get into the game via Clone Hero or even dig out a console for a trip of nostalgia without paying a ton of money.
On top of being a very high quality guitar, the seller also has amazing customer service, talking with you and showing you updates on your guitar as it’s made along with answering questions that you have.

Been using this guitar on and off now for 3 months and it still works like the first day I got it. The mech switches + performance frets combo are silky smooth, tactile, and doesn’t require much force to push down – very fun to use for faster paced songs & a welcome change from stock silicone frets.
The performance strum bar was also a great addition but admittidely took me some getting used to since I’ve been so used to using the stock strum bar for more than a decade, but once I mastered it I couldnt go back. The textured bar + high polling rate makes it a lot easier to hit fast strumming parts without overstrumming and the mechanical switches makes it extremely satisfying to use.
Liam aka SausageMod’s is also a nice & communicative guy who answered any & every question I had about the process & kept me in the loop at every step. Had no issues with the shipping process either as the guitar arrived in good shape. Liam recommends adding shipping insurance which is great option if you’re worried about any potential shipping damage or aggressive postal workers.
Overall, I would highly recommend this guitar, great performance & a worthy investment if you love Guitar Hero/Clone Hero.
